32-year-old woman dies by suicide at Ecocity-1 in New Chandigarh

A 32-year-old woman, native of Uttar Pradesh, hanged herself to death in a rented accommodation of her friend at Ecocity-1, New Chandigarh, in the wee hours today.

The deceased Pooja, a patwari by profession, had come to the house of a Chandigarh Police constable to watch the second T20I. After coming back from the stadium, the victim asked her friend to be left alone to do some work. When her friend went away, she reportedly hanged herself to death in the room. The victim was taken to a hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.

The Mullanpur police have recovered a note and mobile phone from the spot. Forensic team visited the spot and began investigation.

House owner said the room was rented to two women for the past few years and the deceased was seen here for the first time.
