36 Panchkula schools awarded for good hygiene practices

Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta today honoured 36 government as well as private schools of the district in recognition of significant steps taken by them towards maintaining good hygiene practices.

The schools were honoured during a district-level Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar function organised by the office of the District Project Coordinator, Panchkula, under the aegis of the Samagra Shiksha Haryana at a private school here.

While six schools were awarded in the overall rural category, two were feted in the overall urban category. The schools honoured in the overall rural category are Government Primary School Golpura, Government Middle School, Kakrali, Government Primary School, Shilyon, Government Senior Secondary School, Bataur, Government Senior Secondary School, Tikkar Hills, and Government Senior Secondary School, Mandhana, and those honoured in the overall urban category are Government Primary School, Sector 26, and Doon Public School, Sector 21.

Likewise, 10 schools were awarded in the rural (elementary) sub-category, six in rural (secondary), six in urban (elementary) and another six in the urban (secondary) sub-category. Each school was presented a trophy and a citation.

Congratulating the Principals, teachers and students of the schools, Gupta said these educational institutions did an outstanding work in various aspects like arrangement of drinking water, separate toilets for boys and girls, preventive methods against Covid-19 and safe disposal of waste. The main objective of the awards was to provide a clean and healthy environment to students, he added.

Gupta said Swachh Vidyalya Puraskar was started by the Union Ministry of Education in the year 2016-17. Additional Deputy Commissioner Manita Malik and DEO Urmil Devi were among those present on the occasion.

Award categories

While six schools were awarded in the overall rural category, two were feted in the overall urban category. Likewise, 10 schools were awarded in the rural (elementary) sub-category, six in rural (secondary), six in urban (elementary) and another six in the urban (secondary) sub-category. Each school was presented a trophy and a citation.
