38 FIRs, 53 arrests in Mullanpur as part of ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign

Drug peddlers are being aggressively targeted by the police

As many as 38 FIRs have been registered and 53 suspects in various cases arrested by Mullanpur police as part of the ongoing statewide “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign since March 1.

Officials here said 48 people have been also convinced to join the de-addiction and outpatient opioid assisted treatment (OOAT) clinics in the past three months amid the intensified efforts to eradicate drug menace from the society.

Drug peddlers, meanwhile, are being aggressively targeted by the police, their supply chain broken effectively and suspicious persons checked regularly during day and night long operations in every part of the sub-division, cops said.

Kharar-2 Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mohit Agarwal said, “The ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign has been very successful in subdivision with the support of locals and youth.”

Besides, campaigns are also being conducted across the sub-division to raise awareness among youth and masses.

“As many as 40 seminars have been held at village, block and sub division level ever since the Punjab government campaign began since March 1 to root out the menace of drugs from the society,” the DSP further added.

Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), meanwhile, today conducted a surprise check of Mullanpur police station, where the records and security of the police station was reviewed.

Apart from this, the police personnel were also motivated to perform their duty with honesty and dedication.

The state government, meanwhile, had recently enforced a three-pronged strategy— Enforcement, Deaddiction and Prevention (EDP)— to eradicate drugs from the state, the Punjab Police as part of de-addiction has convinced several persons to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment.
