4 accused in Sec 19 Sadar Bazar murder case freed
A local court has acquitted all four accused Nagender, Lalji, Ranjit Kumar and Sushil Yadav arrested in an alleged murder case after the prosecution failed to prove the charges. The police had registered the FIR on January 4, 2024, under Sections 323, 302 and 34 of the IPC at the Sector 19 police station, Chandigarh, on the statement of Parveen Kumar.
He had told the police that he was running a shop in Sadar Bazar, Sector 19, Chandigarh. On January 3, 2024, around 8.45 pm when he was present at his shop, four persons armed with sticks and knives came outside his shop. They all started fighting with Sunil and Rahul who were working as salesmen in different booths. Nagender was holding a knife and another person namely Ranjit caught hold of Sunil.
They attacked him with a knife. As a result Sunil fell outside his shop with blood coming out of his thigh. Meanwhile, many people gathered in the market and taking advantage of the rush, all accused managed to flee the spot. Later, Sunil was taken to a hospital by the market people, but he died during treatment.
After completion of the investigation the police filed the charge-sheet against the accused.
Amit Kumar Khairwal, Vivek Kathuria and AS Gujral, counsel of the accused, said that the prosecution had failed to prove the charges. Gujral said the police had not sent the knife allegedly recovered from the crime site to a forensic lab. They argued that the complainant and eye witnesses had not supported the case of the prosecution.
After hearing the arguments the court acquitted all accused of the charges framed against them.
