4 held for copper wire theft

The district police have arrested four individuals involved in multiple thefts and recovered mobile phones, cash, copper extracted by burning electrical wires, and two motorcycles.

The accused have been identified as Parkash Ram, a resident of Bihar; Nannu and Karan, both residents of Madrasi Colony, Sirhind; and Naresh, a resident of Brahman Majra, Sirhind.

Police station in-charge Inderjit Singh said he received information that Naresh Kumar, along with his accomplices, was stealing electric wires. Acting on the tip-off, the police arrested Naresh on July 23 and took him on remand. During interrogation, he disclosed the names of the other accused.

“Raids were carried out to apprehend the others. While trying to escape by jumping off a roof, Prakash, Nannu and Karan sustained injuries,” said Singh. He added that they were arrested and taken to hospital for treatment.

On their disclosure, the police recovered copper wires stolen from transformers and electrical installatsions, along with cash and motorcycles. Singh stated that further interrogation may lead to the detection of additional theft cases.
