4 held for opening fire at Night Food Street

Four persons have been arrested by the UT police for firing shots at Night Food Street (NFS) near the PGI and later at a residence in Sector 56 on September 1. The police have recovered a countrymade pistol and four cartridges from the suspects.

They have been identified as Vijay (33), Sumit (24), Parshant (26) and Gautam (23), all residents of Sector 25.

On the day of incident, an altercation broke out after the suspects got into an argument with the staff of a food stall owned by Robin, a resident of Sector 56. One of the employees was slapped by the suspects, who then left the scene.

However, they returned a few hours later and fired three shots at the food stall. They also reached Robin’s home and fired four shots. One bullet pierced through the door and got stuck in the kitchen wall.

A police team arrived at the scene and started an investigation. A forensic team also conducted a thorough examination of the crime scene. Sources said three bullet shells were recovered from the scene. The police also collected CCTV footage of the area for further investigation
