Nearly 450 kg of paneer, suspected to be spurious, was seized during a raid at Bapu Dham Colony in Sector 26 here on Wednesday.
Officials of the Food Safety Administration under the Health Department, UT, conducted a surprise raid around 7 am and seized paneer from House No. 714/2 and a pick-up vehicle parked near the house.
The Food Safety Officer on duty collected samples of paneer, along with those of desi ghee and curd. These samples will be tested by an FSSAI-authorised food analyst laboratory, and action will be taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, if they are found to violate safety norms.
In addition, challans were issued to both the food business operator and the vehicle operator for selling food articles without an FSSAI licence, thus endangering public health.
