Five persons, including two children, were bitten by a stray dog in the Lohgarh area of Zirakpur on January 10. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media. Two children were going to buy goods from a shop in Lohgarh when dog attacked a toddler. When other child came to his rescue, dog attacked him. Immediately after this, when another person tried to save children, dog attacked him too and injured him.

The dog then ran away from there. After this, the dog bit a woman. Victims, include 72-year-old Maya Das, 25-year-old Hari Om, 30-year-old Maya Devi, eight-year-old Shiv and three-and-a-half-year-old Reesh. Three victims were taken to the GMCH, Sector 32, while one was taken to a private hospital. Zirakpur MC officials said sterilisation of dogs was halted for the past three months as the organisation, CAWA, hired to sterlise dogs had not been able to get NOC for the Animal Birth Control Programme.
