Panchkula: Five more persons succumbed to Covid-19 during the past 24 hours, taking the district toll to 272. A 34-year-old man from Raipur Rani, a 75-year-old man from Sector 9, a 41-year-old man from Kalka, a 67-year-old woman from Sector 19 and a 42-year-old female from Vasudevpura were the victims. Meanwhile, 291 persons tested positive for the virus, taking the tally to 26,653. TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
