5 burglaries reported in Chandigarh on single night

Thieves struck at five places in the city on Saturday night and decamped with cash, jewellery, electronics and valuables worth several lakhs.

At Vikas Nagar in Mauli Jagran, burglars stole a mobile phone, three “mangalsutras”, four gold rings, two earrings, two silver anklet pairs, children’s silver ornaments and ₹10,000 in cash from Krishna Kumar’s home. He suspects the thieves may have used a spray on the sleeping members of the family making them fall in deep slumber. At Indira Colony, Vijay, an IT engineer visiting here from Karnataka, reported ₹15,000 was stolen from his room.

In another case, Muskan, an advocate of Sector 22, found jewellery and three case files missing from her paying guest accommodation.

A Verka booth in Sector 28-D was broken into and chocolates worth Rs 15,000, 8 kg of ghee, dairy products and Rs 3,500 in cash were stolen. In Sector-38, burglars stole a laptop, Rs 10,000 and expensive clothes from a locked room.
