5 from Chandigarh attended Tablighi event

The UT police have launched a search operation to trace those city residents who attended the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi. The drive is being conducted in view of Covid-19 cases reported from the gathering.

Police officials said five persons had been identified in the Mauli Jagran area, who attended the gathering in Delhi. They had been sent for a medical examination.

Meanwhile, a resident of Mata Raj Kaur Gurdwara, Mani Majra, had also attended Jamaat at a mosque in Ramganj, Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Fifteen persons residing on the premises of Noorani Masjid, Bapu Dham, Sector 26, were also identified who belonged to Tablighi Jamaat and had returned to the city on March 17 after attending Jamaat in Maharashtra.

“As per information provided by their president, Hazi Mohamad Yunus Ansari, the identified persons arrived from Mumbai by the Chandigarh Express, which they had boarded on March 16 from Borivali, Mumbai. He also stated that 14 students of Madrasa are also staying on the same premises for the past one year,” said a police official. — TNS
