Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, tight security arrangements have been put in place across the district. A total of 550 police personnel have been deployed, with 10 security checkpoints being set up around the Sector-5 parade ground and its surrounding areas.
Special vigilance, meanwhile, is being maintained at key locations, including borders, main squares, cinema halls, hotels, bus stands, and railway stations.
ACP-level officers are supervising the security arrangements, ensuring regular checks in crowded and sensitive areas like vegetable markets and religious places.
Meanwhile, vehicles and individuals entering the district are also being thoroughly inspected.
Police personnel equipped with security devices are manning the checkpoints, while PCR vans, riders and Dial 112 units patrol the city to respond promptly to any suspicious activity.
Commissioner of Police Rakesh Kumar Arya has emphasised the importance of maintaining law and order, urging officers to remain vigilant against anti-social elements and act decisively against potential threats.
An advisory has been issued restricting the movement of heavy vehicles, such as buses and trucks, near the parade ground. Vehicles coming from Sankhla Chowk must use Shakti Bhawan Chowk, while those heading from the bus stand towards Kalka, Ambala, or Raipur Rani should take the dividing road of 4/11.
The public has been urged to cooperate with the police and report any suspicious objects or activities to the nearest police station, outpost, or Dial 112.
The Commissioner of Police also congratulated residents on Republic Day and encouraged everyone to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration.
