588 riders saddle up as All India Police Equestrian Championship commences

It will witness 588 male and female riders competing in ranking, individual, team, and mixed events

The 43rd All India Police Equestrian Championship and Mounted Police Duty Meet 2024-25 (AIPEC) commenced at the Basic Training Centre, Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) campus, Bhanu.

Inaugurated by Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, the event brought together elite riders from 19 states and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) for the 10-day championship (March 12-23, 2025). It will witness 588 male and female riders competing in ranking, individual, team, and mixed events.

Lauding the ITBP’s preparations, Yadav called the event a remarkable platform to refine and showcase the equestrian skills of the police personnel.

Welcoming the dignitaries and participants, Ashok Negi, PMG, Inspector General, Basic Training Centre, Bhanu, ITBP, reaffirmed ITBP’s legacy of excellence in equestrian sports and ensured seamless arrangements for the championship.

With a 74-year legacy, the All India Police Games, organised under the All India Police Sports Control Board (AIPSCB), were first held in 1951.

The ITBP has proudly hosted the equestrian championship in 2014 and 2022, and its selection for the third time in 2024-25 is a testament to its stature in equestrian sports.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Brigadier GS Gill, Deputy Inspector General, Basic Training Centre, Bhanu, ITBP, expressed pride in hosting this elite championship and commended the dedication of ITBP officers and personnel in making it a resounding success.

The finale is scheduled to be held on March 23.
