A three-day camp by the Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, UT, started today for distribution of aids and appliances among ‘divyangjans’, in association with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), at Bal Bhawan, Sector 23.
The camp is to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities on theme ‘Building back better: towards an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-Covid world by, for and with persons with disabilities’.
UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore, who virtually inaugurated the camp, envisioned that the distribution of rehabilitative aids would ameliorate the lifestyle of ‘divyangjans’ and would open up opportunities at their workplace.
The Administrator announced that 591 aids and appliances, including artificial limbs, motorised tri-cycles, wheelchairs, smart canes, smart phones, daisy players and Braille kits would distributed for free among 328 beneficiaries. The occasion was also virtually graced by Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator.
