Dera Bassi, October 1
As many as 61 cases of dengue have been reported from the Saidpura area in Dera Bassi in the past three days. The samples were collected on September 29, 30 and October 1.
“There are three laboratories in the district for ELISA test. There was some problem with the Dera Bassi laboratory due to which test reports could not come in time. Otherwise, test reports are given on daily basis,” said Dr Adarshpal Kaur, Civil Surgeon, Mohali.
The district registered 344 cases last month. Doctors said there had been 92 per cent rise in the reported dengue cases.
Health officials said Mohali Urban, Phase 7, Phase 3B1, Balongi, Dera Bassi city and Saidpura were high risk areas.
“There is an alarming rise in number of dengue cases. Kindly take all precautions at individual level. The district administration is doing its bit,” said the officials.
Nine-year-old dies
Meanwhile, there were unconfirmed reports of the death of a nine-year-old in the Balongi area due to dengue.
The family belongs to UP and the patient was admitted to the PGI. The Civil Surgeon said: “There is no confirmation as yet. There is no patient registered with us with that name and age. We have checked it with the PGI. There may be some more clarity by tomorrow.” — TNS
