Payments worth Rs 144.27 crore have already been released to farmers against the due amount of Rs 136.26 crore in the district, reflecting 106 percent payment within 48 hours, one of the best performances in the state.
A total of 61,124 metric tonnes of paddy has been procured so far by the agencies, with 66% of the stock lifted within 72 hours.
Among the procurement agencies, Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation has achieved the highest lifting rate of 76 per cent, followed by Pungrain (65 per cent) and PSWC (63 per cent).
Commending the collective efforts of Pungrain, Markfed, Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation and Food Corporation of India, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Komal Mittal said that the coordination among procurement agencies, market committees and banking institutions has ensured seamless operations and quick payments directly into farmers’ accounts.
