67-year-old tests positive for swine flu in Mohali
A 67-year-old man tested positive for swine flu (H1N1) in Mullanpur, following which a survey was conducted in the village. No other person with the symptoms was found during the survey.
The victim had complained of fever and influenza after which tests were conducted and the reports returned positive today. He is stable and admitted to GMSH-16. The family has been asked to remain isolated.
Mohali Civil Surgeon Sangeeta Jain said, “A patient, aged 67 years, is H1N1 positive, admitted in GMSH 16 and is stable. All the family members are asymptomatic as of now. A survey has been conducted in the village, no other person with the symptoms reported during the survey. Prophylactic medicine given to all five family members of the patient.”
Swine flu (H1N1) is a type of viral infection and the symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, chills, weakness, and body aches. —TNS
