68 arrested for gambling after raid at Kalka casino
Panchkula police detective staff, crime branch and anti-narcotics cell arrested 68 people for gambling after conducting a joint raid at a casino in Kalka.
The police party recovered 22 bottles of liquor, Rs. 3.69 lakh and 20 vehicles from the site.
Sharing further information, police officials said the team of Inspector Nirmal Singh from the detective staff had received a tip-off about the party at The Divine — Once in Nature hotel’s casino in Kalka.
The joint team raided the location and found people gambling.
Police arrested a total of 68 people, inlcuding residents of Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Nepal.
Police officials said the party was organised by Devendra Kumar alias Kalu Malik, Sandeep Sharma alias Sandy, Sohal Khan, Ricky Nanda, Manish Sharma alias Monu of Kurukshetra and Bunty of Karnal, owner of the hotel Ratan Bansal, and manager Rajendra of Jind.
Officials said the organisers did not have the licence or permit to serve liquor and hosting a casino party.
During the search, police teams also recovered 22 bottles of liquor, Rs 3,69,000 in cash and impounded 20 vehicles registeredin Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. A case has been registered under sections 61(1)(A), 72(C) of the Haryana Excise (Amendment) Act and sections 3 and 4 of the Gambling Act at police station Kalka.
