7-year-old Ivaan bags two gold medals at Asian skating meet

Seven-year-old Ivaan Arora from the city won two gold medals for the country in the Junior F Category (333m and 222m races) of the Asian Open Short Track Speed Skating Trophy, held at Himadri Ice Rink in Dehradun.

The event was organised by the Ice Skating Association of India, under the sanction of the International Skating Union. Over 200 athletes from 11 Asian countries, including Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, participated in the event.

Earlier this year, Ivaan stood third in the 20th National Ice Skating Championship at the same venue. A student of St John’s High School, Sector 26, he trains under former national skater Aryan Pal Ghuman in Panchkula. The youngster had earlier represented the city in the roller skating nationals.
