71 arrested in Dera Bassi subdivision under ‘Yudh Nasheyan Virudh’ drive
Dera Bassi Sub Division police have registered 47 FIRs in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act cases and arrested 71 accused, including 12 listed drug peddlers, during the ongoing “Yudh Nasheyan Virudh” drive.
The police teams have also seized 1.29 kg cocaine, 501 gm heroin, 4.75 kg opium, 13 kg ganja, 36 kg poppy, 734 tablets, 111 gm selphos and 1.49 lakh worth of drug money.
The officials said they police has been successful in cutting the supply chain of drugs, demolishing illegal structures raised by drug peddlers and enlisting addicts for de-addiction.
“A sustained crackdown on drug peddlers is in the process. Around 20 patients have been admitted to the de-addiction centre at Mohali,” Dera Bassi Deputy Superintendent of Police Bikramjeet Singh Brar.
A hotspot, Trivedi Camp in Mubarikpur, has also been cleared of peddlers after repeated raids. Illegal structures constructed on panchayat land by listed drug peddler Saleem Khan in Dera Bassi was the latest to have been demolished.
In Mullanpur sub division, meanwhile, the police arrested three Pinjore youths and recovered 200gm heroin and 153 intoxicant capsules from them.
