An eight-year-old girl and her uncle were seriously wounded by a Chinese kite string while passing over Sector-19 flyover, adjacent to Panchkula, on their scooty on Sunday.

Zirakpur residents Sunny and his eight-year-old neice, Angel, sustained slashes in hand, face and neck. As the duo got entangled in the string, the scooty got disbalanced and they fell on the road. They were admitted to the Civil Hospital, Panchkula. Dhakoli police said the victims are undergoing treatment and not in a condition to record their statement. The investigation officer will meet the victims and record the statement in this regard.

Onlookers, who rushed to help the injured duo, demanded a stringent ban on the sale and use of Chinese kitestring, linked to numerous injuries and fatalities.
