81 contacts of Sec 30 Covid patient traced; five from Mullanpur

The eighth Covid case of the city exposed 81 persons to the virus, as per the contact tracing report. These persons belong to Sectors 30-B, 51, 55, and 44 in the city while five of them belong to Mullanpur in Punjab. What’s worrisome is that the 22-year-old youth had gone to his workplace, the scooter market in Sector 38, between March 11 and 22. There is no count of people who had a contact with him.
Making an appeal to the city residents, an MC official said, “Those who had gone to the patient’s shop in Sector 38 may quarantine themselves. It is very difficult to trace unknown persons who came in contact with him. The boy was moving around in the city since his return from Dubai. This is a big worry.”
Around five persons from Mullanpur had come in contact with the patient. Their details have been shared with the surveillance unit of Punjab.
The patient has seven close contacts, including his mother who resided with him. His mother was admitted to the GMCH in Sector 32 late on Saturday evening. She has been sampled for the Covid test. One of his friends, who lives in Sector 29, has also been admitted to the GMCH.
MC Commissioner KK Yadav said the patient’s name did not appear in the list sent by the immigration office. “The UT has details of all foreign travellers who reached the city since March 3. The youth had come on March 11. We are getting updated list from the immigration office. The new cases on the updated list will also be quarantined,” he said.
