chandigarh: The city on Monday reported 864 new Covid-19 infections as 21.42 per cent samples returned positive. The cumulative number of cases has reached 78,492. The number of samples tested in the past 24 hours is 4,034. A total of 961 patients were discharged. The number of active cases has reached 9,104. As many as 68,299 people have been cured till date. Two deaths due to the virus were reported among patients with co-morbidities. A 65-year-old Covid positive woman died at a private hospital. She was suffering from renal disease and hypertension. She was fully vaccinated. A 63-year-old Covid positive woman died at the PGI. She was suffering from acute myeloid leukemia and was undergoing chemotherapy. She was fully vaccinated. The death toll in the city has reached 1,089. —
