Rs 8L bird shelter nearing completion
A Rs 8-lakh bird shelter being constructed by the Panchkula Gaushala Trust at Mata Mansa Devi Gaudham is nearing completion.
Panchkula Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal who is head of the trust recently inspected the construction work and said the shelter being built for the birds had started looking like a “multi-storey tower”.
“The shelter will be a boon to birds. Apart from shelter, birds will get food and water in this beautiful house,” he added. Goyal said the idea struck him during his recent visit to Gujarat. “We saw a bird house and decided to replicate the project in Panchkula,” he added.
He said the trust was building the 52-ft high bird tower to protect winged creatures from cold, heat, rain and dust storms. The tower will have six storeys and 650 paved nests. Each nest can accommodate 4 to 5 birds. In this way, it will be a home to about 2,500 birds. A peacock statue will be built at the top to attract birds. The trust will also arrange grains for birds,” he said.
