Chandigarh: The UT police continued to round up people who were found roaming in the city. As many as 972 more persons were rounded up. They were released after several hours. Since March 23, a total of 2,763 persons have been rounded up from various parts of the city. The police said a total of 1,138 vehicles had been detained till date and 95 had been impounded. A total of 85 persons have been booked under Section 188 of the IPC for violating curfew orders.
No new case in Panchkula
Panchkula: No new Covid-19 case has been reported from the district since March 21 when a 40-year-old woman from Khark Mangoli, a slum in Old Panchkula, was found positive. She is also stable now. The reports of two suspected patients are awaited. As many as 45 samples have been collected for Covid so far, according to the status report on Covid-19. While two are in an isolation ward of the Sector 6 Civil Hospital, 338 are under home quarantine. On Wednesday, the Health Department had issued a press note stating that two people were admitted to an isolation ward at Ojas Hospital. Ojas Hospital on Thursday clarified that no such patients had been admitted to the isolation ward of the hospital.
Passes issued to newspaper hawkers: Admn
A few residents complained that they were not getting newspapers regularly after the imposition of the curfew in the city. A senior official of the UT Administration said there was no restriction on the movement of newspaper hawkers and passes had been issued to them.
