Celebrating the 95th birth anniversary of the legendary music maestro Mohammad Rafi, Yaadgar-e-Rafi Society presented the 37th edition of their programme, Mohammad Rafi Memorial Nite -2019, at the Tagore Theatre here today.
Bollywood actor Padmini Kohlapure was the star guest of the event sponsored by the Tribune Group of Publications.
More than 30 amateur singers from the region, including winners of the Rafi memorial contest-2019, recreated the magic of 25 Bollywood melodies immortalised by Mohammad Rafi and his female contemporaries. The musical bonanza was orchestrated by brothers duo of Arun Kant and Raman Kant. The latter was also honoured by the society for his contribution. Two documentaries on the journey of Yaadgar-e-Rafi Society and the rising of Padmini Kohlapure in Bollywood, composed and directed by IS Kang, were also screened.
The winners of the Rafi memorial contest-2017 were presented mementos by the chief guest, Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta, and Padmini Kohlapure. — OC
