The Regional Office, UIDAI Chandigarh, has started conducting large-scale mandatory biometric update drive across schools in Chandigarh. The mission-mode campaign ensures that students, both in urban and rural schools of Chandigarh, are able to update their biometrics easily without affecting their academic schedules.

The update is vital for children in the 0-5 and 15-17 year-age brackets. Updated biometrics keep Aadhaar accurate, ensuring smooth participation in exams like JEE, NEET, UPSC and others, while also securing access to scholarships, educational benefits and welfare schemes. It also enables a future-ready identity for services like admissions and passport issuance.

The initiative is being implemented in close coordination with Chandigarh’s Education Department, school authorities and Aadhaar ecosystem partners such as banks, post office, WCD, BSNL and DIT.
