Aaira of SFHS-26 wins fencing gold
Aaira Goyal of Strawberry Fields High School, Sector 26, claimed first position in the women’s epee event during the Chandigarh Junior State Fencing Championship.
Aashna Kataria of DC Montessori claimed the second position, while Simarpreet of St Kabir School, Sector 26, and Mannat of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 10, claimed the joint bronze medal. In the women’s foil individual event, Hitaishi of Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, defeated Dia Gupta of the same school to claim the top podium position. Kashvi Khan of DAV Model School, Sector 15, and Yashita of Shishu Niketan School, Sector 43, shared the third position.
Advika Dutta of Sacred Heart School, Sector 26, claimed the top position in the women’s sabre individual event, followed by Shivanshi Thakur of St Anne’s Convent School, Sector 32, finished second. Jeevika and Kirat Sharma of Chitkara International School, Sector 25, finished third. In the men’s epee individual event, Pratham Bhardwaj of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 10, claimed the gold medal, whereas Kanav Mishra of St Xavier’s High School, Sector 44, claimed second position. Abhishek Dhakbal of Sector 10 government school claimed the third position followed by Rubaab Singh of Vivek High School, Sector 38.
In the foil individual, Saurav Singh of Sector 10 team won the gold medal by defeating Hardik Katoch of MDAV School, Sector 22 . Aarav Chaudhary of Gurukul Global School and Abhiraj Singh of St John’s High School, Sector 26, shared the third position. Yashdeep Dhull of DAV Public School, Sector 8, defeated Hriday Katoch of MDAV School gold medal. Jayant of Ankur School, Sector 14, and Gagandeep Rai of the Sector 10 government school finished third. All medallists will be representing Chandigarh in the upcoming sub-junior national fencing championship.
