Bioremediation of remaining waste at Dadu Majra dump: Aakanksha Enterprises may bag contract

Aakanksha Enterprises may bag the contract for bioremediation of 7.67 lakh metric tonne of remaining waste at the Dadu Majra dumping ground. The company has made the lowest bid of Rs 79.68 crore.

Even though the amount is 17 per cent more than the estimated cost of the tender, the Municipal Corporation would take up the matter with the High Powered Committee and, hopefully, would be able to work out the rates with the firm, said sources.

The MC opened the financial bids this evening. The bids of two other firms, Zigma Global Environ Solutions Private Limited and Bhumi Green Energy, were a whopping Rs 122.76 crore and Rs 126.08 crore, respectively. These three firms, of a total of six companies, had qualified in the technical bids 10 days ago.

The tender has an estimated cost of Rs 67.96 crore. While Aakanksha Enterprises quoted 17.250 per cent more than the estimated projects, the bids of the two other companies were 80-85 per cent more than the cost.

The corporation’s previous attempts to finalise an agency for the project had failed. The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is partially funding the project. The firm will have 1,048 days to clear the second and remaining part of the waste at the dumping site.

At present, the clearance of waste in the first part of the site is underway. The work is yet to be completed despite several deadlines.
