Accused wanted in journalist murder case held from Noida

The police have arrested an accused wanted in the sensational double murder case of journalist KJ Singh and his mother Gurcharan Kaur.
Mohali SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans said as part of sustained efforts, a special Proclaimed Offenders’ Staff had been constituted with a specific task of tracing and arresting absconders to ensure they were brought to justice.
Acting on these directions, a police team apprehended accused Gaurav Kumar, son of Satvir Singh, a resident of Pippala village, Bulandshahr (UP), from Noida on November 6.
The accused was wanted in the case registered under Sections 302, 411, 449, 465, 468, 471 and 201 of the IPC at the Mataur Police Station, Mohali, in connection with the brutal murder of journalist Karanjit Singh, aka KJ Singh, and his mother Gurcharan Kaur during the intervening night of September 22-23, 2017, at their residence.
The accused had been declared a proclaimed offender by the court in 2022.
