Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Financial Commissioner Revenue Anurag Verma today chaired a meeting with local deed writers to identify areas of improvement in the deed registration process and to discuss reforms aimed at simplifying and facilitating the public's experience. The meeting focused on addressing issues of harassment and introducing measures to root out corruption in tehsil offices.

ACS Verma outlined that under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Department of Revenue and Rehabilitation is working on several reform initiatives. These initiatives are designed to simplify the registration process, enhance transparency, and improve accountability, ensuring timely delivery of registered deeds and documents.

The ACS emphasised that the reforms would create a more public-friendly system, allowing the public to carry out their work at Tehsil offices without facing difficulties. The reforms are also expected to benefit deed writers by making the process more efficient.

ACS Verma also highlighted that the process of improvement and refinement of procedures is ongoing. The reforms will be implemented progressively, with further refinements to be made as required. One of the key changes discussed is the online generation of farads through the Punjab Land Revenue Society website, which will be recognized as valid original documents, providing greater accessibility and convenience.

The government’s commitment to these reforms is aimed at enhancing the quality of work, saving time, and eradicating corruption in the registration process, ultimately benefiting the public.
