The district administration has strictly directed that firms registered under the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation (PTPR) Act, 2012, to not engage in any services related to overseas employment, work visas, or work permits.
District Magistrate Komal Mittal emphasised that only agencies registered under the Emigration Act, 1983, with a valid Recruiting Agent Certificate or Foreign Employer Permit, are legally authorised to offer such services in India.
The District Magistrate further instructed all the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation-registered firms to immediately stop all advertisements and promotions related to employment abroad.
Any violation of the District Magistrate’s directives will attract strict legal action under the Emigration Act, 1983.
Verify credentials of recruiting agents
Mittal also urged citizens seeking overseas employment to verify the credentials of recruiting agents at www.emigrate.gov.in, and remain cautious of unauthorized firms falsely claiming to provide work-related services abroad.
