To provide a smooth ride to residents of the city, UT Adviser Dharam Pal has planned to improve the condition of roads.

Residents have been complaining about the poor upkeep of roads in several parts of the city for the past several years.

Repair and re-carpeting work of the roads would be taken up on a priority after the rainy season, said the Adviser. Better road condition would further improve the image of the City Beautiful, he said, adding that he had already issued directions to the UT Engineering Department and the Municipal Corporation to improve the condition of roads.

For repair work, the city roads are divided between the Engineering Department and the Municipal Corporation. The Engineering Department looks after the maintenance work of major roads such as Madhya Marg and Dakshin Marg, while the MC maintains nearly 1,400 km of roads in sectors and other areas. — TNS
