The Panjab University has called a senate meeting on April 26, ahead of the Chancellor’s visit scheduled for next month.

The Vice-President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu, who is also the Chancellor of the university, will attend Panjab University’s convocation, scheduled for May 6. The meeting has been called for discussing matter related to convocation. “The meeting has been called and the main agenda of the meeting is to discuss about the convocation. The matter related to distribution of degrees, inviting dignitaries and getting approval for some new ventures are likely to be discussed in the meeting,” confirmed a fellow. This will be the second meeting of Senate, which has been called in both online and physical mode, since the Covid outbreak.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at Golden Jubilee Hall. “Many things are to be decided ahead of the Chancellor’s visit. There are full chances that his visit may face opposition by former senators or students’ political groups due to the ongoing tussle regarding elections of constituency of faculties for Panjab University Senate and for appointing Panjab University Syndicate,” he added.
