One flight was cancelled, while two others were diverted and nine delayed due to the bad weather conditions at the Chandigarh airport today.
Spokesperson of the CHIAL said due to the bad weather conditions, two flights had to be re-directed and one flight was cancelled. He said the flights were diverted because of high-wind speed and a thick cloud cover.
The two flights that were diverted were Indigo flight 6E-7343 from Mumbai was diverted to Delhi, which was already running late by 55 minutes, and the other flight 6E-269 from Hyderabad was diverted to Lucknow and the flight was already running late by 1:09 hours.
GoAir flight G8-913 from Srinagar was cancelled due to the bad weather conditions and heavy snowfall prevailing at the source airport.
Passengers coming from Mumbai said they had deboarded the place at Delhi as the flight was diverted and the airlines asked them either to take the refund or wait for another flight to reach Chandigarh. They said they preferred waiting to board another flight as it was not possible to take the refund and then find other means to reach Chandigarh.
The flight operator said all passengers were given the refund and those opted for another flight were flown to Chandigarh.
Apart from this, nine flights arrived late at the airport and 12 departed late. The flights delayed arrival was between 15 to 50 minutes from various destinations such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad. Air Vistara flight UK-637 from Delhi was late by 1:13 hours which arrived at 7:28 pm against the scheduled arrival of 6:15 pm. — TNS
