With an eye on wooing Tamil voters in Chandigarh, Vanathi Srinivasan, BJP Mahila Morcha national president and MLA from Coimbatore, addressed a series of public gatherings here today. Vanathi urged the local Tamilians to vote for the saffron party.
In her address, she said the BJP at the Centre was committed for the uplift of Tamils. She supported party candidate Dalip Sharma from Ward No. 3, Manoj Sonkar from Ward No. 7, Jaswinder Kaur from Ward No. 28 and Vijay Rana from Ward No. 25.
Later in the evening, she went to Karthik Temple with candidate Heera Negi and Ayyappa Temple with Davesh Moudgil in Sector 47.
Earlier in a press conference, she said Chandigarh had ensured the safety of women as well as all sections of society by installing CCTV cameras in every nook and corner of the city during the BJP tenure in the past six years.
Srinivasan further said Chandigarh as a city was driven by the ‘double engine’ Administration which was having a privilege of being directly benefited from Central Government’s schemes.
Earlier, welcoming Srinivasan, city BJP president Arun Sood said her visit would strengthen the Mahila Morcha and candidates here.
Several leaders, including Chandigarh’s co-incharge Rajya Sabha MP Indu Goswami and National General Secretary Deepti Rawat, were present on the occasion.
