The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has cancelled the allotment of six houses located in Sector 45, Sector 56, Palsora and Sector 41 after their owners failed to remove illegal structures despite repeated notices.

Apart from cancelling allotment of flats for non-payment of licence fee dues, the CHB is now taking same action against owners for illegal construction on government land.

In Sector 45-C, the house owner has constructed a garage and an additional room on government land. The other houses has violations such as illegal balconies, RCC slab constructions and building extra floor without proper structural support.

According to the CHB, the owners were issued show-cause notices and given multiple opportunities to remove the illegal structures. They were also called for hearings. However, they failed to comply with the notices, forcing the board to take stringent action.

The CHB has directed the erring owners to hand over possession of their houses within 30 days to the Chief Engineer of the Chandigarh Housing Board. Failure to do so will lead to eviction proceedings, the board warned.
