Chandigarh, May 13
The Federation of Sector Welfare Associations Chandigarh (FOSWAC) has requested the UT Administration to allow vaccination of people in the age group of 18-44 at a camp in Sector 21.
In a letter to the UT Adviser, Baljinder Singh Bittu, chairman, FOSWAC, stated that FOSWAC and the Residents Welfare Association of Sector 21 were managing a Covid vaccination centre at Pracheen Shiv Mandir/Gurdwara Sahib in Sector 21-C for the past one week.
Now that the Administration has announced to vaccinate people in the 18-44 age group from May 14 and health officials are allowing only a few centres such as the PGI, GMCH-32 and GMSH-16, he submitted that their camp should be allowed to continue vaccination drive at Pracheen Shiv Mandir/Gurdwara Sahib in Sector 21-C as the space available is quite big to maintain social distancing.
“The place is neat and clean and easily accessible to people living in the neighbouring five-six sectors. People feel scared to go to hospitals for vaccination,” he said.
“We have made elaborate arrangements for vaccination drive with arrangement of qualified doctors and paramedics so that no additional burden is put on the existing medical staff of the UT Health Department,” he said. — TNS
