Chandigarh, January 29
A fine bowling performance by Amit Shukla (9/49) helped Chandigarh log an easy win over Odisha during the Col CK Nayudu Trophy at the Sector 16 cricket stadium. The hosts logged an innings and a 165-run win over Odisha to claim full points from the outing.
In the first innings, Shukla accounted for 3/23, followed by another remarkable performance in the second innings by claiming 6/26. Resuming their overnight total of 43/8, the visitors were all out for 56. After being put to follow on, the Odisha batters again failed and bundled out at 70.
Chandigarh’s Chiraz claimed both wickets – Ashutosh Chhuria (4) and Satyakam Bharadwaj (3) to fold up the Odisha innings. Harshit (3/13), Amit Shukla (3/19) and Nishank Birla (2/8) were the other main wicket takers for the bowling side. The visiting batters had a disastrous start as half of the team was back in the pavilion for 45. Shukla accounted for Om (13), skipper Anil Parida (12) and Raghunath Malla (6), while Nishunk Birla claimed Biswa Muduli (5) and Sambit Baral (0). The fall of wickets continued as Sawan Pahariya (10), Abhinab Nanda (0) and Bharadwaj (11) fell prey to Shukla, while Chirag Dhindsa claimed the wickets of Saswat Mohanty (12) and Chhuria (0) to end Odisha’s innings.
