Aniket bags gymnastics gold at Chandigarh gymnastics meet

Aniket Jha of the Sector 7 Sports Complex has claimed gold in the floor event of the 47th Chandigarh State Artistic, Rhythmic, Aerobic Gymnastics (Boys and Girls) Championships.

Aditya Mishra of Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26, finished second and Aman third.

In the pommel horse event, Akash Aryan, Aman and Aditya Mishra claimed the top three position respectively. Saurabh Patel claimed first position in the rings event, followed by Aman at second position and Mishra at third. Mishra claimed top position in the horizontal bar event.

Aman from Sector 26-based college was adjudged the all-round best gymnast, followed by Saurabh and Mishra respectively.

In the girls vault table, Anushka of Chandigarh Baptist School, Sector 45, finished first, followed by Tulsi at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 19, at second position and Ritika of Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 19, at third. Tulsi claimed first position in the Been event. Anushka and Manisha Kumar of GGD SD College, Sector 32, were second and third, respectively.

In the uneven bars, Riya, Manisha and Anushka claimed first three positions, respectively. Anushka also won gold medal in the beam event, followed by Tulsi at second and Ritika at third position. Tulsi won the all-round best gymnast title, Anushka at second position and Manisha at third.

In the girls U-10 floor event, Mayra of Shishi Niketan School, Sector 22, claimed the gold medal. Tanisha Chhabra of Stepping Stones School, Sector 38, finished second and Seerat Goyat of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 33, third. In the beam event, Mayra, Tanisha and Nyra Jain won first three positions, respectively.

In the boys U-10 event, Viraaj Vashisht of St John’s School, Sector 26, claimed top position, while Paramjit Singh of Tender Heart School, Sector 33, and Ankiet claimed second and third positions, respectively. In the vault event, Viraaj Vashisht won the top honour, followed by Aaryan Dhiman and Paramjot Singh at second and third position, respectively.

Around 150 gymnasts in seniors, juniors and sub-juniors categories for boys and girls participated in the Chandigarh State Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships.
