Arjun beats Alan in straight sets, reaches second round
India’s Arjun Rathi defeated Alan Aiukhanov in straight sets 6-2 6-3 to march into the second round of the main draw during the ongoing J200 Chandigarh ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors Tournament for U-18 Boys and Girls at the Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA) complex in Sector 10 here.
In other matches, Croatia’s Emanuel Ivanisevic beat Sehaj Singh Pawar 7-5 6-3, and Kazakhstan’s Damir Zhalgasbay ousted Arnav Paparkar 6-1 6-2. Erasyl Bakhtiyar also moved into the next round by defeating Tanussh Ghildyal 6-2 6-3. Alexey Shibaev got the better of Sumukh Marya 6-4 6-2, and France’s Aaron Gabet recorded a comeback 3-6 6-2 6-1 win over Artem Sidorov.
Aretm Bogomolov outplayed Akshat Dhull 6-1 6-1, and Hitesh Chauhan faced a tough challenge from Rihards Neimanis before recording a 6-1 6-7(6) 6-3 win. Turkey’s Terem Yilmaz ousted Eito Konada 6-4 6-0.
In the girls’ singles, top seed Yoana Konstantinova and Polina Kuharenko advanced into pre-quarterfinals. Yoana dominated throughout the match with her aggressive ground stroke as she beat Satima Toregen in straight sets 6-2 6-3. In the other match, Polina upset second seed Victoria Milovanova 6-2 6-2. Masa Jankovic defeated Yeri Hong 7-6(4) 6-2. Manon Favier, Polina Berezina, Yu-Chen Lin and Eva Korysheva also moved into the pre-quarters.
