The Chandigarh Police have registered a case after three unidentified men dressed as Nihang Sikhs allegedly assaulted a bus driver and a passenger with sticks and swords.
According to a complaint filed by Lakshay, a resident of Sector 15, Panchkula, the incident took place on Sunday near Gaushala Chowk. A motorcycle bearing a Punjab registration number reportedly hit a public bus. When driver Sunil Kumar and a passenger, Pardeep Kumar, stepped out to assess the damage, the bike-borne men turned aggressive.
Pardeep began recording the scene on his phone, prompting one of the assailants to brandish a sword and snatch his device. They started beating up the driver and passenger with sticks, causing panic and fear among bystanders.
The case has been registered under Sections 281, 118(2), 351(3), 309(6) and 3(5) of the BNS. The police are investigating the matter and trying to identify the accused based on the vehicle registration number and eyewitness accounts. No arrests have been made yet. The victims are reported to be recovering from their injuries.
