Chandigarh, July 30
A group of armed assailants, including some PU students, forced their way into a hostel room and attacked two students in hostel No. 6. Both victims sustained serious injuries and were hospitalised.
According to the police, complainant Vishal Malik (25), a PhD student residing in room No. 13, hostel No. 6, reported that he and his friend Azad Singh (21), a UIET student, were in the room when the suspects arrived late on July 28.
Malik in his complaint stated that the assailants began banging on the door, forcing him to open it. He added that around 12 miscreants carrying sharp weapons and rods attacked him and his friend. Malik further alleged that one of the attackers was even carrying a pistol.
The victims raised the alarm, prompting other hostel residents to come out of their rooms. Sources said Malik received nine stitches on his head, while Azad got five stitches on his hand.
The police said Malik has named Ritik, Adarsh, Krish, Arnav, Aryan and Harsh, all students of UIET, in his complaint along with other unidentified persons.
