Top seed Arnav Bishnoi outclassed Japnam Sngh in straight sets 6-1 6-0 to qualify further in the boys’ U-18 category, during the ongoing CLTA-AITA Championship Series (CS-7) Tennis Tournament at the CLTA Complex in Sector 10 here.
Local contender Haralam Singh defeated Sachit Thakur 7-5 6-0, while Punjab’s Armaan Walia outplayed Anant Gupta 6-0 6-3. Haryana’s Shaurya Balhara faced a tough resistance from Ashish Kumar before recording a 6-1 4-6 6-4 victory.
Manipur’s Ashwajit Senjam also moved ahead by defeating Chandigarh’s Love Pahal 6-2 6-1, while Haryana’s Arntya Ohlyan got the better of Aksh Jood 6-1 6-4. Another local contender Shorya Jishtu defeated Gujarat’s Perrin Patel 6-7(4) 7-5 6-3.
Sumukh in next round
In the boys’ U-16 first round main draw, top seed Punjab’s Sumukh Marya defeated Shaurya Balhara 6-1 6-0. Haryana’s Ayush Singh triumphed over Punjab’s Arnav Rajput 6-0 6-3 and Aarav Bishnoi defeated Sankalp Sachdeva 7-6(4) 6-4. Haryana’s Tanishq Jood managed to make his way into the next round by defeating Hardit Singh 6-0 6-2, while Ashish Kumar logged a 6-2 5-7 7-6(4) win over Arnav Gautam. Punjab’s Devansh Parajuli outplayed Param Sidana 6-0 6-1, while Haryana’s Aksh Jood beat Haralam Singh 6-0 6-2. Second seed Horya Jishtu outplayed Harlalam Singh Harika 6-1 6-1.
Geet, Dhriti log easy wins
In the girls’ U-18 category, Geet Gamara of Gujarat outplayed Haryana’s Shreya Lamba 6-1 6-1. Punjab’s Kritika Sharma also marched into the next round by defeating Akanksha Singh 6-1 6-0 and Parigya Yadav of Uttar Pradesh defeated Ekam Shergill 6-3 6-3. In the girls’ U-16 category, Haryana’s Dhriti Parashar defeated Shreya Lamba 6-0 6-0. Punjab’s Ekam Shergill defeated Haryana’s Sahej Kaur Gill 6-0 6-3 and Krittika Sharma ousted Geet Gamara 7-5 6-2.
