Dr Kamil, an alumnus of Panjab University, began by highlighting the growing disconnect from reflective practices in a fast-paced, material-driven world. “We are living in an age of start-ups and fleeting moments, but poetry offers a bridge to our inner selves,” he said.

Drawing from current trends, he explained that poetry, rooted in silence and inner honesty, allows for reflection in an era dominated by instant gratification. He also expressed concern over how art is increasingly confined to digital spaces, where emoticons replace true expression. His talk resonated with the audience, earning him a standing ovation.

The event also featured a tribute to the late Professor Urmi Kessar, a pioneer in modern Indian art history.

In her address, VC Renu Vig, acknowledged the Kessar family's role in establishing the series. She also thanked Dr Kamil for his insightful words. Prof Radha Kessar, daughter of the late Professor, expressed gratitude to the university for continuing her mother’s vision.
