Artistes from Alwar bring Manto’s ‘Baadshahat Ka Khatma’ to stage

Artistes from Alwar, Rajasthan, brought Saadat Hasan Manto’s story “Baadshahat Ka Khatma” to stage, leaving audiences spellbound at the National Drama Festival, held at Kalakriti Patiala under the aegis of North Zone Cultural Center and Language Department of Punjab.

On the sixth day, artistes staged the play under the direction of Des Raj Meena. The play was written by Akhtar Ali on the story of Manto.

The story begins in two places, an office and a home, with two central characters, Manu and Aju. This sequence passes slowly and peacefully and starts again with the phone ringing. On one side is the gentleness and mischief and on the other side is the complete feeling of love. It portrays anguish and longing.

Nirmala Ravinder Anjali and Des Raj essayed the central roles.
