Ashok, Abhishek, Neeru claim gold

Ashok, Jeevalal and Pargat Singh claimed top three positions, respectively, in the 100m race of men above 70 years category in the 40th Chandigarh Masters Athletics Meet, at the Sector 7 Sports Complex, here today.
In the above 35 years category, Abhishek Garg claimed the gold medal, followed by Pardeep at second spot and Pramod at third. In the above 40 years event, Rampal won the first position, Partap finished second and Major Singh claimed third position. Krishan won the above 45 years gold medal, while Ashwani finished second and in the above 60 years category, Gurjant Singh, Harkrishan Singh and Iqbal Singh won the top three positions, respectively. Jasvir Singh won the above 65 years gold medal, followed by Pritam Singh and Gurbachan Singh. In the women’s above 45 years, Neeru Kakkar was the sole winner. Abhishek claimed the high jump gold medal in the above 35 years category. Parmod Singh claimed the second position and Sukhwinder Singh finished at third spot. In hammer throw, Gurdarshan Lal won the above 35 years gold medal, while Gurmez Singh finished second. Balwinder Singh and Raman Singh claimed the first two positions, respectively, in the above 45 years category, while in the above 60 years event, Paramjit Singh claimed the top position and Ramanjit Singh finished second. In long jump event of men above 35 years category, Sukhchander Singh, Parmod Singh and Pargat Singh won the first three positions, respectively, whereas Arvind Singh won the above 40 years category gold medal, followed by Partap Virk at second position and Sanjay at third.
In above 50 years category, Rohtash was the sole winners, while Baldev Singh won the above 55 years category. Joginder Singh won the above 60 years category gold and Gurmel Singh claimed the second position. In above 70 years category, Jeeva Lal and Ashok Kumar won the first two positions, respectively. — TNS
