Ashwani wins Chandigarh Golf Association’s Silver Jubilee Skills Competition

Local golfer Ashwani Thakur won the Chandigarh Golf Association’s (CGA) Silver Jubilee Skills Competition with Professionals, at Chandigarh Golf Range. Thakur won the event in a playoff finish. Karandeep Kochhar, who recently participated in the star-studded LIV League in Gurugram, claimed second position, while another local golfer Krish Chawla, who recently secured a spot among the country’s top junior golfers by finishing 4th in the Indian Golf Union (IGU) All-India Junior Golf Merit List for 2024, claimed third position.

The competition was based on a skill set in which hitting the ball as near the pin got more points. A total of 37 CGA Golf Range members participated in this competition. SK Sharma, IPS, President, CGA and Honorary Secretary of the Indian Golf Union, was the chief guest. He gave away the prizes to the winners. Harpuneet Singh Sandhu, General Secretary and Council Member of the Indian Golf Union, along with Jagdeep Singh Sukhija, Executive Member, and other officials of the CGA, were also present.

Last month, the team of Manjot Singh, Brig HPS Dhillon, Col Amardeep Bajwa and Jagmohan Singh won the professionals category of the Pro Amateur Silver Jubilee CGA Cup. These events are held to mark the 25 years of establishment of the CGA Range. The tourney was played in a four-ball format at the Chandigarh Golf Club.
