Assembly poll: Police set up 8 interstate checkposts in Panchkula

The district police have established 8 inter-state checkposts and formed 12 static surveillance teams in view of the upcoming Assembly elections.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Himadri Kaushik, during a meeting with all the supervisory officers, station incharges and police post and crime branch incharges said the department had formed a special team to oversee activities during the election process. She directed the police station incharges to keep a close watch on individuals against whom the police had already registered cases and other proclaimed offenders (PO) who had jumped bail.

For the purpose of strict monitoring during the run-up to the elections, the police have also established eight inter-state (border) checkpoints where strict monitoring will be carried-out. The department has also formed 12 static surveillance teams which will ensure videography of all types of activities related to the elections.

The police department has also increased patrolling in their respective areas to monitor anti-social activities at public places for better law and order. Kaushik directed the officials concerned to visit the polling booths in their respective areas and inspect them to ward-off any inappropriate activity during the elections.

ACP Surendra Kumar, ACP Arvind Kumar, ACP Ashish Kumar, ACP Manpreet Singh Sudan, ACP Shukrpal, election cell incharge Rajkumar, inspector security and all other incharges of police stations and crime branches were present during the meeting.
