At Rs 221 crore, Chandigarh GST collection dips 5% in July
Chandigarh collected Rs 221-crore revenue from the goods and services tax (GST) in July, which was 5.15 per cent less than Rs 233 crore mopped up in July 2024.
This was the second consecutive fall in the GST collection in the Union Territory after a 1.78 per cent decrease registered in June.
The state-wise growth of GST revenue figures released by the Union Ministry of Finance on Friday, a copy of which is with The Tribune, revealed that the post-settlement of SGST share for Chandigarh till July 2025 in the current fiscal stands at Rs 750 crore, which was also 2.59 per cent less than Rs 770 crore revenue collected during the corresponding period last year. The post-settlement of GST is cumulative of the GST revenue and the state goods and service tax (SGST) portion of the integrated goods and service tax (IGST) settled to the respective state and UT by the Centre.
In May 2025, Chandigarh had collected the highest-ever GST revenue of Rs 363 crore, which was 53.16 per cent more than Rs 237 crore collection made during May 2024.
While the UT generated Rs 220 crore GST collection in June, which was Rs 4 crore less than Rs 224 crore collected during the same month last year, the revenue collection in April this year at Rs 334 crore was also 6.7 per cent higher than Rs 313 crore mopped up during April 2024.
